The Posen Library

Digital Library Displaying Jewish Cultural Heritage Materials

The Posen Library logo

The Posen Library was initiated in the 1990s as a ten-volume print anthology of excerpted Jewish cultural heritage materials, meant to reflect the breadth and depth of Jewish cultures over the ages. Around 2017, The Posen Library accelerated its web presence, beginning development on a new digital library to present the contents of the anthology.

I contributed to the project first as an editorial assistant, conducting archival research at the New York Public Library and Center for Jewish History in New York City, as well as digital repositories around the world. I eventually moved into an administrative role, designing and developing operations workflows to facilitate the project. In this capacity, I taught myself web development fundamentals including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Web Development and Python Scripting

  • Designed and developed JavaScript web applications for use in operations workflows.
  • Wrote Python scripts to facilitate metadata collection for items in the initiatives digital library.
  • Administered the project's Google Workspace.

My time at The Posen Library validates my experience as an archival researcher, displays my initiative in learning new technologies, and shows my involvement in the operations of a digital library project.
